He then invited Mr. Suresh Tripathi who shared his vision for the year 2010-12 with words of praise for Mr. S Y Siddiqui and his leadership to take NHRDN Delhi Chapter to accomplish great milestones by taking a number of initiatives in his tenure thereby creating value proposition for the members. Mr. Tripathi invited Mr. Siddiqui to felicitate and recognize the efforts & contributions made by his team.

Mr. Suresh Tripathi shared his thought on the constitution of the new core team and introduced the executive team and the new core team members.

Mr. Rajneesh Bawa took the opportunity to throw some light on the theme and the inviting the speakers having different expertise, as a leader Mr. Sushil Kapoor, President & CEO, Technical Textiles Business, SRF Ltd, a senior HR professional Ms. Jayantika Dave, Vice-President, Human Resources at Ingersoll Rand International (India) Ltd and an academician Dr. Anup K Singh, Professor- Human Resource & Organizational Behaviour, International Management Institute. He then invited the moderator of the session Mr. Bimal Rath, Head HR, South Asia, Nokia India who set the session by quoting the current industrial figures with respect to layoff and retention. He invited the panelist on stage and introduced them to the participants. Mr. Rath started the session by sharing his views on the two set of factors i.e. ‘push’ and ‘pull’ factor for an employee. He threw light on the auctioning of Talent Retention and left the panel members thinking with few questions to be answered.

Mr. Sushil Kapoor took the podium to share his thoughts as a leader and leader’s role to retain talent and answered the unanswered questions set by the moderator. He started with a practical perspective on Retention and mentioned certain non- traditional factors important in the context. He talked about Vision clarity and rationality, proper communication, competency set and implementation. He said that the Vision should be ‘truly co – created’ through cascade of communication and tactical adjustments. Throwing light on the need of adequate compensation he talked about the socialistic and differentiative approach to Compensation. He said that a Leader should have multiple personalities, suitable in different situations.

Bringing in the experimental and new perspective to the forum was Ms. Jayantika Dave. She talked about ‘five employee drivers’ and ‘strategy to improve discretionary efforts’. She brought in a new concept of ‘2*2*2+5’ and a 3/3 matrix of assessment of critical factor. She said that it is always better to take a proactive step rather than wait for the ‘nail to get red (hot)’.

The research and theoretical perspective was brought by Dr. Anup Singh He said that 30% of the people leave because of ‘money’, 35% leave because they want proper career growth and 15% leave because they want to get rid of their Boss. Such critical issues can only be addressed by a leader with good emotional intelligence. Citing example of Lord Jesus, he said that a leader is a Guru as he teaches his subordinates. A good leader is a role model and mentor to his people and he is able to galvanize, channelize and mobile the subordinates.

All these discussions gave ground to many questions put forth by audience to the panel. The panel addressed the queries and finally Mr. Rajneesh Singh invited Mr. Suresh Tripathi to hand over the memento to the speakers and concluded the session by with ‘vote of thanks’ announcing the next special event in July.
