Mr. Agarwal is a graduate engineer from Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur. After his graduation, he did post graduation in Industrial & Management Engineering from USA. He has a post-Graduate Diploma in Personnel Management and has also successfully completed Executive Coaching Workshop at Wharton Business School, USA.

Mr. Agarwal started his career in computer business at Electronics Corporation of India Ltd. before switching over to manufacturing sector at HMT, Srinagar. In 1981, he joined NTPC and got associated in the initial phase of organization building and over the years rose to the position of General Manager.

In 1995, Mr. Agarwal joined Bharti Enterprises as Director (HR), when it started its foray into telecom services. During eight years at Bharti, he contributed in building the organization in terms of human resources, developing competencies and nurturing a culture in consonance with corporate values.

He re-joined NTPC in 2003 and looked after HR and Power Management Institute till October 2008.

Mr. Agarwal has been Member of the Academic Councils of Bharti School of Telecommunication Technology and Management at IIT, Delhi; Fore School of Management, Institute of Integrated Learning Management, Lal Bahadur Shastri Institute of Management, New Delhi. He was also a member of the Industrial Research & Development Board of I.I.T., Delhi, HRM Sub-Committee of Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and Board of Governors of the National Safety Council, Mumbai besides being a Life Member of All India Management Association and National HRD Network.

His areas of interest include Performance Management Systems, Management and Leadership Development, Career Development, Organization Design, Corporate Social Responsibility.

Mr. Agarwal has been conferred AIMA Fellowship and given HR Leadership Award by Employer Branding 2007-08.
